Happiness is a Clean Closet

12.19.10

I just picked up the January 2011 edition of Real Simple, a magazine which, like most housekeeping-and-cooking periodicals, sometimes contains pearls of wisdom.  There is an article about the “science of happiness”, which mentions a recent book called “The Happiness Project”. It was written by a woman named Gretchen Rubin, who dedicated a year to making herself happier.

Out of all the possible things she could choose to make herself happy, what did she do first? She cleaned out her closets.  She did this because she identified that the clutter in her clothes closet was draining her energy.  After she went through with a brutally honest eye and shed everything that she didn’t really use or love, she felt energized. She went on to clean out more closets and got inspired for more projects in all areas of her life. I have felt this effect myself and seen it in many clients. There’s something about conquering that small area that resonates out through your life like no other.

Because I think this could be a key to happiness for many people, I am hereby announcing a January Closet Special.  I will offer 10% off my regular rates for closet projects in January 2011.  Just give me a call or email message and we’ll set it up!
